🔊 Zoom-Share Computer Audio from iPad (Screen Broadcast)

Goal: Everyone hears the Shruti (from Vimeo) and hears you speaking at the same time.

Best practice: Use headphones/earbuds to prevent echo/feedback.

Important: On iPad, sharing audio means you’re also sharing your screen.
Before you share, close private apps/tabs and turn on Focus / Do Not Disturb to prevent notifications from showing.

1) Pre-flight (30–60 seconds)

  • Open the script (ready)

  • Open Vimeo (loaded + paused)

  • Turn on Focus / Do Not Disturb (recommended)

  • Put on headphones/earbuds (strongly recommended)

2) Start screen share + include device audio

  1. In Zoom meeting controls, tap Share Content

  2. Tap Screen

  3. On the broadcast screen, tap Microphone Off / Microphone On until it shows Microphone On
    ✅ When Microphone On is displayed, your device audio is shared.

  4. Tap Start Broadcast

  5. Leave Zoom and go to Vimeo

3) Play Shruti + talk

  • Press Play on Vimeo (make sure it isn’t muted)

  • Use the iPad volume buttons to set the level

  • Keep your Zoom mic unmuted and speak normally

Note: there can be a brief delay in what others hear.

4) Stop sharing

  • Return to Zoom → tap Stop Share
    (Or tap the red screen-sharing indicator at the top and stop the broadcast.)

Fast troubleshooting

They can’t hear the audio you’re trying to play (Vimeo, YouTube, etc)

  • Confirm you started sharing: Share Content → Screen → Start Broadcast.

  • On the broadcast screen: set Microphone On (that’s what enables device audio during screen share).

  • If you already navigated away from the broadcast controls: go back to Zoom and tap Share Device Audio.

  • Make sure the audio from the player you’re sharing (Vimeo, YouTube, etc) isn’t muted, and press play before adjusting volume.

They hear computer audio but can’t hear you

  • Unmute your Zoom mic.

  • Lower the volume of the audio from the player you’re sharing (Vimeo, YouTube, etc) a bit and speak closer to the iPad mic.

  • If Bluetooth is acting weird: switch to wired or reconnect Bluetooth.

I don’t see the “Screen” option

  • Zoom notes Screen may be missing depending on meeting/host settings (“Disable desktop screen sharing…”).

Echo / feedback

  • Headphones/earbuds fix it fastest.

  • If using speakers: lower iPad volume and move farther from the device.

There’s a delay

  • A brief delay for others hearing shared device audio is normal on iOS screen broadcast.

Audio is muted while sharing (nothing fixes it)

  • Stop share and start again.

  • If it persists, Zoom’s general guidance is to update/reinstall the Zoom app as a troubleshooting step for muted shared audio.
